Is Kratom Legal in My State? 2026 State-by-State Guide
Last verified: October 12, 2026. Kratom laws change often and vary by city and county. This page is general information, not legal advice — confirm the current rules at your delivery address before ordering.
Is kratom legal in the United States?
Natural kratom leaf (Mitragyna speciosa) and its main alkaloid, mitragynine, are not federally controlled — they’re legal to buy and possess at the federal level. The FDA maintains an import alert but has not scheduled the leaf. Legality is decided mostly at the state and local level, and several states have banned it outright.
7-OH (7-hydroxymitragynine) is now federally scheduled
As of August 6, 2026, the DEA placed concentrated and synthetic 7-OH products (tablets, gummies, shots, drink mixes) into Schedule I. The order exempts natural leaf kratom below the threshold, and the American Kratom Association supported it. Bedrock Botanicals sells only natural, lab-tested leaf — we do not carry concentrated or synthetic 7-OH.
Where does Bedrock Botanicals ship?
We ship lab-tested kratom across most of the U.S., but not to states where it is banned. As of October 2026 we cannot ship to these 12 states:
Alabama · Arkansas · California · Connecticut · Indiana · Kansas · Louisiana · Massachusetts · North Dakota · Tennessee · Vermont · Wisconsin
Heads up: Kentucky has a full kratom ban scheduled for January 1, 2027. It is currently legal (21+), but we will stop shipping there before that date.

Product-form & local restrictions
Some states allow kratom but limit the form: Ohio — plain leaf/powder only (capsules, liquids & shots are banned); Utah, Virginia & Florida — natural leaf only, no concentrated 7-OH; Maryland — labels must list exact milligrams of mitragynine and 7-OH; Mississippi — no synthetic or combustible/vapor forms. Local bans also exist in otherwise-legal states (e.g., Sarasota County FL; Spokane WA; Albuquerque NM; several Illinois and Mississippi cities). Always check your city and county.
Age requirement
Where kratom is legal, state minimums are 18 or 21. Bedrock Botanicals sells only to adults 21 and older, regardless of local minimums.
